These days there are a tonne of people choosing not to eat gluten or animal products, and being a plant-based chef (and gluten-free specialist), I’m often asked for gluten-free vegan party food recipes and ideas. Sometimes it’s because of allergies. At other times it’s food sensitivity. Then there are other health reasons, ethical reasons or it might be because of lifestyle.
Whatever the reason there’s more and more demand for gluten-free vegan options at parties, potlucks, and family gatherings.
In this post I am sharing some of the best gluten-free vegan party recipe options that I know of. They are all popular and go down a treat whenever I share them (whether people are gluten-free, vegan or not).
Tips for making good gluten-free vegan party recipes
- Make as much ahead as possible to take the stress out of it.
- Everyone loves colours – pick a variety of colourful dishes.
- Think ‘less is more’. Only pick a few recipes, rather than overwhelming yourself with too many options. Fewer dishes is a lot less stressful and people will LOVE them.
- Choose easy recipes where possible.
- Make sure there is enough space in your fridge or freezer for any pre-prepared food.
- Test any recipes that you are unsure of ahead of time in the week or weeks before your party. You might want to have a mini trial run so that you are confident in your choices.
- Write an ingredient list and make sure you have everything in stock in plenty time, don’t leave it until the last minute.
- Make sure you keep gluten-free food separate from non gluten-foods to avoid cross contamination if that’s important.

What a treat. These make a fabulous finger food. Working nicely with any sort of dip. They are versatile, so you can make different coloured ones, using a variety of root veggies. Even though you’ve probably never heard of these, I am including them because they are super popular finger food wherever I am cooking. You can use ANY root veg in place of parsnip and potato. Held together with chickpea flour, they are substantial, filling and very tasty. They make an ideal food for gluten-free folk, without any of the nasties.
