I am delighted to announce that we will be running a plant-based hiking retreat on the Gower Peninsula in South Wales. As always, this will be a truly special, and uplifting event.

Largely untouched by the modern world, the Gower was the UK’s first Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It is full of breathtaking scenery, secret bays, coastal walks, magical woodlands, waterfalls, myths and legends.

We will be staying near Rhossili Bay, with a beach that is known as one of the most stunning in Britain.

Over the course of the retreat you’ll enjoy the most delicious, filling and inspiring plant-based meals. Think super hearty roast evening meals, superfood sweet treats, vibrant salads, delectable desserts and lunchboxes to delight your senses.

Friday, May 10th: Arrival is from 5pm. Relax, settle in, meet your fellow adventurers, and enjoy a delicious, nourishing plant-based dinner. We will close the evening with an introduction to the weekend’s activities.

Saturday, May 11th: Starting with a wholesome and hearty breakfast we enjoy a picturesque 9-mile hike along the Rhossili Downs encompassing elevated views of the stunning bay and the Irish Sea. The day is all about wandering through ancient landscapes, adoring gorgeous bays, and taking time to stop to take in the breathtaking scenery, along with the rare plants and wildlife. The walk will conclude along the three-mile sandy beach and even a visit to a shipwreck! Our pace will be steady but gentle, allowing time for you to enjoy your tasty plant-based packed lunch and hot drinks. Following the hike, you will be ready for a fabulous and plentiful plant-based dinner, cooked by your very own private plant-based chef; Anastasia. The rest of the evening will be for sharing tales with your new friends, enjoying the sunset in the peaceful garden, having fun, or simply relaxing with a hot cup of cacao and a good book.

Sunday, May 12th: After another healthy and wholesome breakfast, new adventures await. We will be taking a coastal walk of about 5 miles along the ancient and stunning coastal paths of the Gower Peninsula. This will provide ample opportunity to stop and breathe in the majestic sites, whilst listening to local myths and legends of this special area of outstanding natural beauty.  Your efforts will be rewarded with yet another fabulous plant-based dinner, as Anastasia puts her skills to task with simple, yet delicious foods that will tantalise your tastebuds. The rest of the evening will again be for relaxing, contemplating our experience, and enjoying the sunset in the peaceful garden as you comment often about how full you feel!

Monday, May 13th: The experience will conclude with a breakfast fit for your send-off, a closing circle, and even (an optional) early morning dip in the sea before your final feast.

Plant-Based since 1995, age of 20, Ana quickly found her true calling with recipe development to create some of the most delicious plant-based food available. Now a successful retreat chef and the author of 3 recipe books, Ana finds a deep sense of joy in hiking the great outdoors.

Ana feels that hiking can provide a profound connection with Mother Earth, whilst allowing herself and others to be more true to themselves. Couple this with delectable food and an amazing view make for an unforgettable experience.

Ana will create the most delicious and nutritious food during the retreat and will assist along the hikes. In whatever spare time she has available, she will do her best to keep Gary in check.

GARY ROTHWELLMountain Leader, Performance Coach and Plant-Based Athlete
With over 30 years of hiking and adventure experience, including hikes around the world, such as Machu Piccu, and the Grand Canyon, plus trips closer to home including the Yorkshire 3 peaks, the West Highland Way and all 214 Wainwright Peaks. Gary is keen to help people of all abilities enjoy nature and the great outdoors with hiking.

With a real passion for health, longevity, and their association with nature, Gary is enthusiastic to help people experience the joy of what hiking can do to unlock health, happiness, and a passion for life.

Gary will lead the hikes and host retreat members, along with eating as much of the delicious food as possible so don’t leave your plate unguarded!
