I’ve long since recognised the necessity of exercise for a life of health and wellness. Walking, hiking and a dabble of yoga, here and there, have regularly featured in my life… however, admittedly, over the years I developed a bit of a tendency to become laid back with fitness. My lower back was giving me serious grief every time I lifted something half heavy, because I didn’t have the core strength to support myself. Sometimes it would put me out action completely! If anyone has had this issue, you’ll know exactly how debilitating that can be. I knew that pilates gently builds core strength to help support our back, whilst helping to realign posture and natural movement. It seemed like a natural, self empowered choice, so that I could take my physical fitness back into my own hands.
Pilates has changed my life
I started doing pilates classes twice a week over a year ago (with some smaller sessions in-between at home) and I can honestly say that it turned my life around. I feel so free!
My lower back has never failed me since and I just feel so good doing it.
I hold myself differently when I walk, when I climb a step stool,
when I garden or lift heavier boxes.
And that awesome rush of endorphins – who wouldn’t love that!
The classes I attend have people of all different ages in. It always amazes me how the elder members of my local community get so into it too.
Why a pilates workout juice?
I committed to making myself a freshly pressed, super juice before every workout. It means that no matter what I do during the week, there are at least two times I’ll get a super-dupa infusion of nutrients to support my practice. I love juicing, and having a rhythm like this means that I never fall out of the helpful habit. In fact, the more I do it, the more I love doing it.
Here’s a short video with my favourite pre-workout recipe with helpful tips about why I use certain foods etc.
I’ll be sharing more about the health benefits of pilates in the coming months, so watch this space.

What's in my pilates pre-workout juice? And why I do pilates?
A super healthy pre-workout, pilates juice, with beets, celery, lime, ginger, apple and kale.
Ingredients
- 6 celery stalks
- 1 large beetroot
- Fresh ginger
- 2 apples
- 3 kale leaves
- 1 lime

Interesting topic Trinity. I’ve gone Yoga, Pilates and back to yoga and who knows where in the future….
Pilates definitely connected me to places and stability I had never felt before. However my recent revelation has been that what was missing, as well, not instead of the Pilates consciousness was releasing and softening also into those core muscles particularly the deep pelvic floor and yoni. Speaking as a woman I believe many many of us have little or no connection to how much tension and history we carry here.
I love to combine pilates with yoga. When I practice at home, I tend to do a sort of interesting yoga, pilates combination. Softening, absolutely, couldn’t agree more. So much energy stored in the pelvic area… eons!
with love

Wow, I too struggle sometimes with lower back issues, especially since having a baby, it’s always been weaker. I really need to look into pilates! Love the info you share on your site Trinity!
It can make a massive difference… so easy to neglect ourselves, especially when we take care of others 🙂
Thanks for your beautiful comment.
I’ve been looking for more juice recipes, because I easily get into a rut when juicing, so I’m definitely going to try this one!
Delighted that it inspires 🙂
I love pilates reformer classes, but the mat classes I find so hard! I guess I just don’t have the ab strength yet, but I’m working on it! This juice sounds lovely and the color is beautiful!
That’s wonderful that pilates has eased your back pain. I have felt underwhelmed/bored by my exercise options lately, especially with the cooler winter weather. (I’m more of a hiking/biking fan.) I’ll have to see if pilates is offered in my area and give it a try!
