What a wonderful weekend! It was my very first Conscious Kitchen Retreat, where the idea was to combine delectably healthy plant-based cuisine with meditation and connecting with the soul. It was a small, intimate and friendly group, from all walks of life, some new to the journey, others who’ve been walking the path for some time – yet it all blended sublimely for an exquisite, flavoursome adventure.

It was so much more than a ‘cooking’ workshop. It was a journey of self-discovery, where 10 of us joined together, embracing a deeper connection of creating compassionate food. Being in the kitchen is an incredible opportunity to embrace the art of everyday meditation in the most beautiful of ways; like a moving meditation of culinary inspiration.

The central theme was all about becoming present in the kitchen whilst feeling our spiritual connection with plant-foods. A person’s state of consciousness makes a big difference to the final outcome of a dish. We looked at the importance of making food from the heart, whilst listening to our own innate kitchen wisdom. Through group sharing, experiential activities and meditation, we also turned ‘making food’ into a soul inspired work of art. This was our opportunity to open our hearts, free our minds and begin to embrace the divine experience of moving meditation as we moved from one ingredient to the next. I could have only dreamed of what unfolded next as my group (most of whom wouldn’t consider themselves artistic) came up with three incredible, soul-inspired mandalas…

Here’s a short video I made from one of our sessions in the kitchen…

Connecting with the spirit of plant-foods

We looked at the how different herbs and spices work on the chakras, each with unique spiritual healing properties. We practiced connecting at a much deeper level with the essence of these incredible foods that sustain us. We explored on different levels, honouring our individuality and true expression (which is unique for every one of us).

My aim was help awaken a deeper level of beingness in each of my guests and especially to unleash inspiration within the kitchen. I’ve guided meditation workshops of various sorts before, but this combination of weaving in culinary activities with meditation was a first for me.

Humbled and delighted

I am absolutely delighted and humbled. It was an incredible success. My guests each took away a unique gift of something they’d unleashed within themselves.
