There’s nothing quite like a nurturing mug of hot drinking chocolate. It’s like a heart-warming soulful hug from a friend that just can’t help but make you feel loved. Like all my recipes, this version is free from dairy and refined sugar. Using only three ingredients, it’s super quick and easy to make.
Enjoy!
Hi Trinity,
I was wondering if you would share why you don’t drink soy milk. The reason I’m asking is that I’m going back and forth with myself on whether or not to keep drinking it. I hear pros and cons to both sides but I would love to hear from you what your reasons are. I ask because I really respect you and would value your opinion.
Much Love,
Sharida
Thanks for asking the question Sharida. I am happy to share…
I felt a little uneasy about soya for many years before I started hearing reports about its negative effects, so foremost for me, it was a personal thing.
After babyhood, my son drank it a lot in his toddler years too. He was dairy free, although I noticed that he seemed also sensitive to soya milk. He often developed mucus upon drinking it (which stopped every time I made the switch to rice or almond milk). I drank it a lot about 15 – 20 years ago and intuitively felt like my body was guiding me away from it. I noticed that it made me feel sluggish (something I never experienced with rice or nut milks), so I stopped drinking it.
So it feels like many years ago, it was personal. However, even my body wasn’t sensitive to it, knowing what I know now, I definitely wouldn’t use it. The main issue is that most of the world soya bean crop is genetically modified. It’s almost impossible, even for organic crops to claim to be GMO free. I’ve been reading about GMO for many years, and to me it is a big no-no. Specifically relating to soya – I’ve read scientific reports that clearly show that GMO soya is detrimental to health and wellness. Soya has also been show to act as an anti-nutrient, inhibiting some of the functions essential for efficient health.
Dr Mercola who is a leading health expert, has explored into soy in great depth and offers an interesting, credible view point in his ‘The Dark Side of Soy’ article here:

I hope this helps 🙂

Thank you for your reply Trinity. You helped me make up my mind. It was funny that my husband called me earlier in the day to see if I needed more soy milk. I told him no, that I was thinking of switching to rice or almond milk. Then later I watched your video on hot chocolate (which I am making today) and you mentioned not drinking soy milk! Your reply and link to Dr. Mercolas article made me see that it was meant to be that I quit soy. So, thank you, thank you, thank you!
Much love,
Sharida
