I’ve been including lion’s mane mushroom powder in my daily cuisine for a while now… and for good reason. It’s said that this superfood mushroom has excellent benefits for cognition, memory, and all things brain related.
I’ve written an article with a tonne of links on the scientific research about the Benefits of Lion’s Mane here, if you are interested in delving deeper: Health Benefits of Lion’s Mane Mushroom
Please also let me know if you find anything else out… I am always learning and keen to find out whatever I can.
What is in a super healthy lion’s mane hot chocolate?
For me, everything I make is plant-based and healthy.
No refined sugar! That means instead of refined sugar, I am using dates to sweeten. Many of us will find this drink perfectly sweet. However, if you want extra sweetener, simply add a bit of coconut sugar or maple syrup.
Instead of plant-based milk in a carton… I am simply using oats, and blending the whole thing in a blender. This cuts out the need for any of the extra ingredients, such as thickening agents that you might get in a carton of oat milk. Art the same time, you get a super fresh and fairly pure drink.
I also use organic cacao powder, vanilla powder (or extract), and ground cinnamon. Let’s not forget an ounce of love too!
Making lion’s mane hot chocolate in a blender
If you have a blender, then this is incredibly quick to make lion’s mane hot chocolate from scratch. Blend all of the ingredients (see recipe below) in your blender. I use my bullet blender. You can also use a regular jug blender to make hot chocolate this way. Next, heat in a pan and then magic, it is ready to enjoy!
Which lion’s mane powder should I buy?
You can get an organic powder fairly cheaply online if you look around! So I recommend going with whatever your budget will allow.
However, if possible, it’s best to buy a Lion’s Mane powder that has had the bioactive compounds already extracted. In that way you can be extra sure you get its benefits.
I use this one here in the UK, which is an excellent option that contains the full array of bioactive nutrients…
UK: Organic Lion’s Mane Full Spectrum Powder
I use this one which is good and more affordable:
UK Full Spectrum Organic Lion’s Mane Powder
Here’s an option if you are in the USA…
USA: Organic Lion’s Mane Extract Powder
