Until recently it just never occurred to me how delicious plums would be in a smoothie. I’ve been totally blessed with a small Victoria Plum tree, bearing the juiciest, sweetest fruits. After enjoying them straight off the tree in abundance, I’ve been trying all sorts of ways to embrace this bountiful harvest. As well as pies, crumbles and warm stews, it turns out, they make an absolutely delectable smoothie too. They work a treat with a handful of berries and a little ‘je ne said quoi’.

Here’s my latest recipe for a “Plum & Raspberry Smoothie”…

Ingredients:

  • 5 ripe plums (with skins)Plum smoothie by Trinity
  • Handful of fresh raspberries
  • 200ml rice/coconut or almond milk
  • Heaped teaspoon cashew or almond butter (unsalted)
  • Half a banana (frozen for extra creaminess)

How to make:

  1. Take the stones out of the plums and discard.
  2. Place all ingredients in a blender and blend until you achieve desired consistency.

Alternative version…

“Plum & Blackberry, Coconut Smoothie”

Make as above, but use a handful of fresh blackberries instead of raspberries and two tablespoons of pure, organic coconut cream instead of the cashew butter.

Absolutely delicious!
